About Crizal
Crizal is a brand name for a range of optical lens coatings manufactured by French Essilor, and are most commonly known for their popular crizal lenses. Although they are a Canadian brand they are popular across all of North America and further afield in Europe and the far east. They have built a reputation for producing lenses that are far better than the standard glass lenses you get from other manufacturers.
Crizal Lenses
Crizal lenses give greater optical performance and greater transparency by repelling rain and snow, being anti-reflective, smudge-resistant, dust-resistant and scratch-resistant. The Crizal lens technology was developed using technology from the micro-electronics, flat screen and fiber optics industries.
The original crizal lenses had an anti-smudge layer on the Crizal coating which was developed by using perfluorinated polymers which were applied directly after the last antireflection layer using a vacuum deposition process. In addition they had an anti-scratch layer which was provided by a double varnish that involved the introduction of a shock-absorbing layer to the lenses.
